Attractions

Delaronde Lake

Among forests of pine and lengths of white sand beaches lie the crisp, cool waters of Delaronde Lake. Boasting a maximum depth of 180 feet and a length of 55 kilometres, this gorgeous lake offers incredible scenery, fishing, swimming, boating and water sports, with very few restrictions. Spend countless memorable days with family and friends amid the beauty of Delaronde Lake.

Big River

Just a short drive from South Stoney Resort is this wonderful community with every amenity you will need. Enjoy shopping, dining and other great activities around town, as well as the goings on at the community centre. There are many annual events for you and your family to take part in such as fishing derbies, golf tournaments, quad races, snowmobile derbies and traditional sports programs. Join your neighbours and get ready to be a part of the fun and friendly Big River community!

Prince Albert National Park

Reserving a slice of the boreal forest, Prince Albert National Park is the perfect destination for any outdoor adventurer. Camping, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and endless other activities are offered among incredible scenery of thick forest and clean lakes. The natural beauty of the region combined with all the recreational possibilities makes Prince Albert National Park one of the best places in Saskatchewan.

Fishing

Reel in a great catch of pike, jack or walleye from Delaronde Lake or any of the lakes nearby. Summer and winter, you will always enjoy a day of fishing on the lake surrounded by breathtaking scenery. You can also start your summer off right by taking part in the Walleye Classic, and join the crisp winter fun at the Big River Annual Ice Fishing Derby.

Hunting

Some of the best hunting in the province is found in the Big River region. Whether you are hunting elk, deer, bear or waterfowl, you’re sure to get your trophy. Go it alone or sign up with a local managed hunt organization such as Big River Trophies or Sask Can Outfitters.

Golfing

Summer at the lake is never complete without some invigorating days of golf. Tee up for a full season at MillRidge Golf Course in Big River, just minutes from your cottage. Enjoy the tree-lined fairways and welcoming golf community, and when you are ready for a little variation, venture to some of the other beautiful courses in the region

Hiking

There are many incredible hiking trails in Prince Albert National Park just waiting for you to explore. Whether you are opting for a short stroll, a 5 to 10 kilometre hike or a multi-day backpacking trek, this beautiful park has what you’re looking for. Climb hills, enjoy breathtaking scenery, and explore meadows inhabited by free-roaming bison.

Skiing

Hit the slopes at Timber Ridge for some unforgettable days of skiing and snowboarding. Timber Ridge is located just 5 kilometres south of Big River and offers the views, runs and amenities that make for an incredible ski trip. There are also many designated cross country ski trails in the area where you can spend days coasting through the pines.

Snowmobiling

If your winters are all about riding the snow on your ski-doo then you are in the right place. Register with the Timber Trails Sno Riders club and get ready for a full season of snow-packed fun. Ride miles upon miles of groomed trails, join in the annual derbies, and get to know all the best back country rides in the region.

Horseback Riding

Exciting horseback adventures await you and your friends and family at Sturgeon River Ranch. Climb on for a day of riding in the beautiful surroundings of the park, or saddle up for a multi-day outback horse pack trip.
